November 15, 2015, Agency Project Advisory Group (APAG) Meeting

The third APAG meeting for this study was held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Disney Wilderness Preserve Conservation Learning Center. The meeting was held to present the results of the Alternative Corridor Evaluation (ACE) process and obtain comments on the three corridors that are recommended for further evaluation. Information presented at this meeting is available on the Documents and Publications page of this website.

NOVEMBER 2015 PROJECT UPDATE

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is finalizing the planning-level analysis for the project. The planning-level evaluations followed the FDOT’s Alternatives Corridor Evaluation (ACE) process, which served to screen initial alternative options and to identify reasonable alternatives to be carried forward into the Project Development and Environment, or PD&E, Study phase. Initially, 10 alternatives were developed, screened and presented to the public, stakeholders and various governmental and environmental agencies. As a result of this input and significant analysis, three alternatives were deemed viable to be carried forward into the PD&E Study phase for additional analysis. Both the methodology for the ACE process and the ACE Report are available (COMING SOON) on the Documents and Publications section of the website.

As the three viable corridors continue to be evaluated, the FDOT will conduct an Alternatives Public Meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for fall 2016.  Please click here to be added to the mailing list, so you will be notified in advance of the meeting.

JUNE 2014 PROJECT UPDATE

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is currently updating the Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) project screening for the Poinciana Parkway Southport Connector Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study.  Due to the type of decisions needed for this study, an Alternatives Corridor Evaluation (ACE) is being conducted as part of the screening process. The purpose of the ACE is to identify reasonable alternatives for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis. This is a new component of the study process for projects that will require new alignments, new roadways, or new roadway connections or extensions.
